Sticking It Out

When 917 American college graduates are asked to dispense advice to the graduating class of 2009, 71 percent say today's graduates should stick to their goals and aim for career fulfillment, while 18 percent advise "take any job they can get."

Burning Out

In a new survey of 4,435 full-time employees, 37 percent of the respondents say they are now doing the work of two people and 30 percent say they feel burned out.

Drugs and Money

The recession could be taking a toll on the health of American workers, as a survey of 1,500 of them, at companies with 2,000 or more employees, finds 20 percent have skipped taking prescription-drug medications in order to save money.

In a multi-response survey of 457 American office workers, 77 percent report at least one positive effect the recession has had on their jobs, including:
  • 53% Taking on new projects
  • 52% Gaining more responsibility
  • 4% increased interaction with management

According to a survey of 500 recruiting professionals, 53 percent of executive-level job applicants include a cover letter.  Roughly 39 percent of recruiters say they have eliminated candidates because they did not include such a letter.
